Preface

A suitable textbook on Engineering Mathematics has long been a pressing need in Nepal. Although several books on Engineering Mathematics by foreign authors are available, most of them are not well-suited to comprehensively cover the prescribed courses of Nepalese Universities. In response to this gap, the authors were inspired to create a suitable book for engineering students at the Bachelor level, titled ‘A Textbook of Engineering Mathematics Vol. I. This book is primarily designed according to the new syllabus (2024) of the Bachelor of Engineering, First Year First Part at the Institute of Engineering, Tribhuvan University. Additionally, it covers the courses of other universities in Nepal.

The subject matter is presented in a systematic and logical manner. Every effort has been made to simplify the content as much as possible. This book includes fundamental theoretical concepts, applications, and an ample number of worked-out examples, followed by exercises in each chapter. This comprehensive approach aims to assist students in their studies and support teachers.

During the preparation of this book, the authors consulted various standard books on Engineering Mathematics, and they expressed their gratitude to the respective authors of those books. The authors also extend sincere thanks to many senior professors and colleagues, including Prof. Shree Prakash Shrestha, for their valuable suggestions.
